My very pregnant first freshener is leaking milk from one side of her udder. She had a very large precocious udder before she was bred. It has been happening for more than a month now and we are still about a month from her expected due date. She has dried milk on the inside of her leg, so while I don’t always actually see the milk dripping from the teat, it is happening frequently. I’ve notice a bit of matted hair on the inside of her other leg, so now am worried that the other side will start to do this too. Her udder is quite large already and fairly firm. I’m a first time goat owner as well. I consulted with my very experienced friend and she has never encountered this particular problem. As far as I can tell, it is coming directly from the teat orifice and nowhere else. Our strategy has been to leave it alone. I’m worried that this will influence her milk production after she kids. OR that she will loose the colostrum if the leaking gets worse the closer we get to her due date. Any suggestions??
